Spotlight on Buxton & Disley Holiday Camps
Posted on by SteveWhat another cracking week!
This week we have run 3 Holiday Camps… Our popular Glossop camp, plus Buxton and Disley camps. Again, the weather has been on side (most of the week), and participant numbers have been excellent.
Our Buxton campers have had a great week with coaches, Luke, Lawrence, Liam and Jack. With various activities on daily, there has been lots going on, plus we’ve had the added bonus of some good weather resulting in us playing on the grass field most of the week. The space is great and really adds to our sessions meaning we can set up a number of activities and use them throughout the day. It has been nice to see our regular campers, but fantastic to see new children attending. We have been lucky enough to have three Spanish children attend this week also, hopefully it’s been great for them but also, I’m sure, great for everyone else to participate alongside children from another country.
Our Disley Camp has been another success this week. Again, multiple sports have been on offer all week including Dance and Gymnastics with coach Sarah, which again many children have taken advantage of. Coaches Danny, Ash, Sarah, Sam and Jack have really enjoyed the week, stating that every child has took part very well in all activities.
It’s great for us to offer as many different sports and activities as we can. We have to understand that not every child is brilliant at every sport, most children are very good in one or two sports, some children good at three or four sports, and only a handful of children pretty competent at every sport. However, for us, it’s great to find those sports that each specific child enjoys. Our job is to also to develop each child, no matter what their ability, we aim to challenge and improve their overall skill and understanding in each sport.
Another part of child development is there general balance, co-ordination and agility. These fundamental skills and movements are improved daily through all our games and activities. There is also the social side of their development… Mixing with different children is one, but also being in a different environment another. All in all, our camps offer child development in all kinds of areas, and we see this development happen day in and day out.
We have also seen the βPAS Manβs World Cup Skills Challengeβ take part at our Buxton Camp. No matter what age, all the children gave it a good go and we were very impressed over all. It is sometimes nice to add a little competition into our camps, and this certainly was one the children enjoyed.Β Click here to read more about this challenge and who are current winners are.
Finally, thank you once again for a super week, we hope you have enjoyed it!
