PAS News for September & October…

We can’t quite believe just how fast the start of this term has flown by… It’s been a great start to this academic year, with all school sessions running well and general participation numbers being up. We’ve also had a lovely Autumn with regards to the weather, and therefore we’ve nearly had every session outdoors. Long may this dry, yet a bit chilly, weather continue…

Both Mark and myself would like to introduce our latest new staff members. Coach Jonny, from Hayfield, has come on full time and works across the High Peak delivering PE and after school clubs. He comes with great experience and has settled in to the PAS way very quickly. We also have taken on two new apprentices, Megan and Tiegan. Both girls have shown a real passion for sports coaching and, like coach Jonny, have started their PAS employment very positively. All in all, we hope that all new employees bring new ideas and a freshness to the company.

Moving on, this is our last week of term before we have our half-term activities. We have so much on this coming half-term with some new developments to discuss. The first major bit of news is that we have a brand new camp location in Stalybridge. Millbrook Primary School, just off Huddersfield Road, will host our Stalybridge Holiday Camps and boasts good facilities throughout the school. Let’s hope for a successful week there! We are pleased to announce that we have changed the way we split children into groups on camp. We now are planning to place children in groups which relate to their age but also take into consideration their individual ability. The groups will be –

  • Age 4-6 = Sports Stars
  • Age 7-9 = Super Stars
  • Age 10-13 = Premier Stars
  • Age 14-16 = AmPASadors

Our final group, the AmPASsadors, will be those children who have taken part in lots of PAS activities over the years. They will be our assistant coaches/helpers and hopefully this will create a nice rapport with the younger participants and coaches alike. We plan to also use these groups at our Weekend Club after this half-term.

Our usual Holiday Camps are Glossop, Buxton, Chapel and Disley and bookings are coming in thick and fast. You can book on to any camp using our flyer/booking form, which can be viewed by clicking on the link below –

Looking at or website, we have had some new work completed making it responsive to both mobiles and tablets. Hopefully this will make our website more user friendly for everyone.

Finally, PAS were happy to support the set up of the Glossop Parkrun. The first run was on Saturday 26th September and had over 150 runners taking part. Our sponsorship, along with others, means that Glossop have a regular run every Saturday morning and hopefully will encourage all runners, of different ages and abilities to keep fit and healthy. Click here to find out more about Parkrun or to sign up, remember it is all free and a great community get together!

As always,Β thank you for taking the time to read our news page, we hope you found it useful.
