PAS News for February
Posted on by StevePAS News for February…
I would like to start by hoping everyone is enjoying the action from the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. So far it has been a super spectacle to watch, from the Opening Ceremony to the latest new event, Slopestyle. Hopefully you will all agree it has been another inspiring watch for all our younger viewers.
Closer to home, and slightly different sports, our February half-term Camps start this coming Monday. As usual we have lots going on at PAS, including 4 βSoccer & Multi-Sportβ Holiday Camps taking place in and around the High Peak. Camps are running in Glossop, Buxton, Chapel and Disley and each take place for a full week. Holiday Camps run from 9.30am until 3.30pm, are open to both boys and girls aged 4 and up, include indoor and outdoor facilities and start from just Β£8.00 for a half day or Β£15 for a full day, plus we do an early drop off too. For those who signed up to our after school clubs this term, we are due to select a name out of our raffle on Friday 28th February! Remember, for those who signed up, your name has gone into the raffle to win 2 Champions League tickets to watch Manchester United take on Olympiakos at Old Trafford on Wednesday 19th March. Check out our website, blog and social media pages to see if you child wins this unreal prize.
With the World Cup and Commonwealth Games coming this summer, our Weekend Clubs have adopted this theme and are in full swing. Every week various Brazilian tricks and skills will be taught, plus with 2 different multi-sports each week, our Commonwealth theme will also be getting a mention. For those of you who saw, we had a great article in Glossop Life magazine talking all about our future plans. Click here to read the article or here for more info on our Weekend Clubs.
Just a reminder, from January our Monday Night Elite Club was now open to children up to the age of 16. We previously had an age limit of 8 at this club, but as many children wanted to keep coming after they turned 8, we opened the club up and eventually will have several specific age groups. Click here to find out more about this Club.
Finally, as many of you might know, we do quite a lot of fundraising for a charity called Agapao International. They work all over the world, giving aid to those who need it. We have done lots of individual and group fundraisers over the years, including our greatest achievement, which was to raise Β£5,000 for completing the National Three Peaks Challenge. However we also run lots of school educational fundraisers and most recently we ran a full day at St. Andrewsβ Primary School in Hadfield, Glossop. Coach Nathan ran the day and was touched by the way all the children engaged so well in the event. This was shown when they started to raise funds… So far, to date, the school has raised a whopping Β£838!!! A truly unbelievable amount and a great effort from everyone associated with the school. The Glossop Chronicle ran a story about it which was in the paper yesterday. Once again we would personally like to thank everyone who contributed from St. Andrewsβ Primary School.
Finally, thank you for taking the time to read our news page, we hope you found it useful.
