Another Great week of Adventure
Posted on by SteveLast week saw another cracking week of Adventure!
Our Summer Non-residential Adventure Camp was again another popular camp with everyday being fully subscribed. With various activities throughout the week, it’s a real chance to try something new and push yourself to the limit!
We usually start the week with our Adventure Day, which includes team games, fire camp skills, shelter building and other bushcraft activities. The day proves very popular and this Summer we had 16 campers really giving it their all.
Our second day on camp was spent on our bottoms… Not in the office, but out on our bikes! We had a super skillful and knowledgeable group who managed well with some bikeability training, before putting what they learnt to the test on the roads and local trails.
Wednesday was a brilliant day, as long as you wanted to get wet! Our Stream and Gorge Walking Day is one of the best in the calendar and very popular with the kids as well as the coaches… myself included! Although this Summer, I went for the record under the waterfall… not again! However, this said, the kids had a wonderful time and showed some real courage and bravery.
Our penultimate day was a gentle stroll around the Derwent and Ladybower reservoirs. A truly stunning place, which if you time it right, feels like you’re the only ones there. At times we were and our group managed to knock up over 5 miles of walking, whilst navigating from point to point. A great job and fortunately great weather also.
Once again our final day was another cracker, despite the rather wet start to the day, which certainly didn’t dampen our spirits. Our budding campers were treated with Rock Climbing in the morning and Scrambling/Weaselling in the afternoon! Everyone did a wonderful job and really did show some determination and commitment. It was sometimes a real test of nerve, but with a bit of encouragement and guidance, it just shows how much can be achieved.
Overall it was a super week and we can’t wait till the next one!
