PAS News for November
Posted on by StevePAS News for November…
Well, it is set to be the rainiest year on record, which for us, makes our job that little bit harder. Fortunately, many schools have good indoor facilities, but as we all know and can appreciate, the thought of being indoors all day due to wet play and then again for an after school club, may be a little frustrating for all the kids. This said, we do our best to try and get outside when we can. Studies show that outdoor education gives depth to the curriculum and makes an important contribution to pupils’ physical, personal and social education. Ofsted also say that the quality of teaching in outdoor education, in school-based settings, is generally good or better in 80% of sessions. It is good to know that we certainly contribute to these findings. In fact, during a typical week, we run 105 PE lessons, 31 lunch-time sessions and 47 school-based after school clubs, and this doesn’t take into account all of our out of school/private clubs we run. It is safe to say we are certainly getting more and more kids into sport!
Evening & Weekend Clubs
Our private evening and weekend clubs are running very well at present. In fact, from our recent questionnaire, all the feedback was exceptionally good, with just a few parents/guardians suggesting ways to improve them. One request was whether we could inform parents/guardians which sports are on offer on a weekly basis. We have started to do this via our Twitter and Facebook pages, and it is very simple to find out each weekend as tweets/posts go out each Friday evening. Another was whether we could provide hot drinks, i.e. tea and coffee, at our clubs. As we don’t have a high volume of parents staying, and the fact that somebody would have to man the drinks area due to hot water and children being present, it is looking highly unlikely that we would be able to offer it.
Don’t forget that most clubs will be running throughout the winter period, although however a couple will have a break, and all relevant information will be issued in our December e-newsletter.

Christmas & New Year ‘Soccer & Multi-Sport’ Holiday Camps
Over the up and coming festive period, we will be holding camps in Glossop, Buxton and Disley. All the action begins on Monday 22nd December, and it is set to be another cracking experience for kids!
We are running 7 full days at our popular Glossop Camp, located at St. Margaret’s Primary School, on Monday 22nd December until Wednesday 24th December, then Monday 29th December until Wednesday 31st December 2014, and finally, Friday 2nd January 2015. We are also running our Buxton Camp from Monday 22nd December until Wednesday 24th December 2014, and our Disley Camp from Monday 29th December until Wednesday 31st December 2014. All camps will offer ‘Soccer & Multi-Sport’ activities and also include a visit from PAS Man, our official mascot, plus Soccer Santa. These special visits will take place on Tuesday 23rd December at our Glossop and Buxton Camps and then again on Tuesday 30th December at our Glossop and Disley Camps.
Don’t forget our special offer, ‘do 3 for FREE’! This means if you book any 3 days or more, your child/children will receive a free PAS trophy!

After School Clubs
Our after school clubs will be coming to an end very soon, with many clubs finishing in the first week of December, which means we still have 2/3 sessions remaining, and don’t forget all those important prizes and Christmas gifts to give out. Feel free to come slightly earlier to pick up your child/children on the last week, and therefore be present to watch our final presentations. If you are unsure when a specific after school club finishes, please speak to your coach or contact the office any time.
We will have a new theme and prizes etc for our new after school clubs in the New Year and, as usual, we will be coming in to speak with the children in assembly and be handing out new flyers/booking forms.
Little Sports Stars
After another successful block of ‘Little Sports Stars’ sessions, which finished on Saturday 15th November, we are pleased to announce two new blocks in the New Year. Our usual Saturday morning session will be running again, and starts on Saturday 24th January 2015. Along with this, we also have a new block of sessions starting on Tuesday 17th February, taking place from 9.30am until 10.15am at Bradbury Community House in Glossop. Both blocks are again open to all children who are 2, 3 or 4 years of age, and will last for 5 weeks. A limited number of places are available, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

Awards
Finally, a quick mention goes to our company administrator, Julie Turnbull, who won our ‘Employee of the month’ award for October. Julie has worked for PAS for over 2 years and we all felt, ha ha, it was about time she won the award. Well done again to Julie! Click here to read more from our blog.
