PAS News for October
Posted on by StevePAS News for October…
October has already been a super month, but we still have so much more to come…
The first bit of exciting news to announce is that our after school club numbers have never been higher! It’s a record that has not been broken for a couple of years, but this term, we have 1115 children taking part with PAS. A cracking statistic to know that so many children are taking part in sport on a weekly basis.
Our school work continues to be a massive part of our business, but as the October half-term approaches, we have some super news to announce about our October Camps.
This October half-term, Monday 27th until Friday 31st October, we have ‘Soccer & Multi-Sport’ Holiday Camps in Glossop, Chapel, Disley and Buxton. All camps are at their usual venues apart from our Buxton Camp. This October our Buxton Camp will be at St. Thomas More School, Palace Road, Buxton. This will be a fantastic sports venue for PAS to host our action packed week of sport. To also add to our Buxton Camp, we have teamed up with Buxton FC and will be giving away FREE Buxton FC tickets!!!
Remember all our Holiday Camps run from 9.30am until 3.30pm, but also offer an early drop off from 8.45am. Camps are based on Soccer and Multi-Sports activities, which means everyday we have different sports available to play, that is a total of 16 sports to choose from during the week! Remember, our Holiday Camps are open to boys and girls from the age of 4 up to 16 and this half-term, for every child who does ‘4 or more’ days, they will receive a FREE PAS Trophy!!!

Although PAS is all about sport, the reality is that we offer so much more. Benefits of playing sport are all too well known, from general socialisation, to simply leading a healthy lifestyle. If you look at our Holiday Camps, and for a moment put sport to one side, the following activities are on offer to develop other skills –
- Tuck Shop or Gift Shop – giving children the responsibility to understand money
- Team Games – working on leadership, communication skills and above all teamwork
- Wacky Competitions – find their wacky talent, or draw a cool picture, anything that promotes originality and confidence
- Coaches Challenge or Soak The Coach – being creative and thinking of different challenges and then enjoy getting your own back on the coaches
- Prize Day – again this is all about building confidence and improving self esteem
Overall there is so much more to sport than what meets the eye… To read more about what we have on offer, apart from sport, throughout our Holiday Camp week, please click here.
Moving on, we also have a full week of Adventure Camp starting on Monday 27th October, with various adventurous activities on offer throughout the week. Monday is our Adventure day with bushcraft activities, shelter building and team games. Tuesday is our Goyt Valley Adventure Day which includes orienteering and Edale to ‘Mam Tor’ navigation walk. Wednesday is our mountain biking day which also includes Bikeability training. Finally, on Thursday and Friday we team up with The Hollowford Centre and go caving, followed by rock scrambling and weaseling to finish the week off in style!

We are also pleased to announce another block of ‘Little Sports Stars’ sessions. These sessions, starting on Saturday 18th October, are specifically designed for 2, 3 and 4 year old children. They include parent participation and over the 5 weeks various skills will be developed. Our motto for these sessions is – Develop FUNdamentals and Play – Learn – Grow – Together.
